Google Analytics is back...for now

Stat Tracking

Some time ago I made a post about how I tried Analytics out for awhile, and ultimately returned to using MyBlogLog for tracking stats.  The main thing I enjoyed about MyBlogLog was its simplicity, and it didn't seem to slow anything down on page loads.

If you are a MyBlogLog user, then you have noticed how they have turned that tracking tool into some sort of community kind of centered around site traffic (??).  Well, I this morning I realized that I wanted stats...only stats.  So, back to Analytics for me.  Another determining factor in that decision was that I have seen a lot of improvement in the Analytics tool.

Are there any simpler, better, FREE stat tracking tools out there? Dave uses BlogBeat and it seems awesome.  Which is probably the reason Feedburner acquired them and shut down new signups!

hi, Sorry you left. We've add the community features because we're crazy enough to think that they're a natural outgrowth of the stats. We think that people run our stats to understand their readers better. If we're right, what better way to upgrade that than offer reader's entire profiles to tell you who they are. I for one, am not just a number. :)

Hey Scott, thanks for the comment. I don't think MyBlogLog, as a stat tracking tool, is without value. It just wasn't to my liking. In fact, we are about to release stat tracking support for InstantSpot users and MyBlogLog is included as one of the few choices offered.

Hmm...how about some way for our users to sign up for a MyBlogLog account through our control panel! :)

Aaron -- we have an API just for services like yours. During registration or at some other point your user says they want to become a MyBlogLog member. You send user/pass through the pipes, we send a userID back. You turn the tracking script on in their template and all is right inthe world. Would you like me to hook you up with the CTO to hear some more about it?

Eric, that sounds perfect!

I would love to hear more about it, and we can continue this via email if you would like.

Thanks,
AJL
